THE STORY BEHIND

Beyond tradition. Beyond boundaries.
The Story Behind SoniQ Ronin
Why "SoniQ Ronin"?
A ronin was once a wandering samurai with no master.
Free from belonging to any one place or tradition,
he followed his own path.
That is how I think about sound.
My work does not belong entirely to
music, therapy, meditation, or performance.
It moves freely between them.
Like a ronin,
it follows its own path.
Profile
Before this path, I worked in a trading company for over a decade.
I didn’t plan to become a sound practitioner
—this work began unexpectedly, guided more by intuition than intention.
Since childhood, I have been deeply sensitive to sound itself—
not only as music, but as a subtle presence that carries feeling and state.
I don’t approach sound as a way to heal or fix, but as a form of expression.
The instrument I play, the Singing Ring,
is a rare Japanese instrument with a uniquely delicate yet powerful tone.
Through it, I create a space
where you can simply listen and experience the depth of sound.
One moment that shaped this path was
when a visually impaired woman told me,
“I could see light through the sound.”
Since then, I have continued to explore what sound can reveal.
As a Japanese artist, it is my joy to share this sound
—born in Japan—with people from around the world,
and to offer an experience that is quiet, personal, and deeply felt.
